Trip-Hop.net Compilation 2010 (Freedownload)

Die französische Website Trip-Hop.net hat ihre Lieblingslieder aus 2010 zusammengestellt und bietet diese Compilation nun als Freedownload an. Neben DJ Scientist, Ceschi und The Q4 ist auf der Compilation noch jede Menge weiterer doper HipHop und Beats zu finden ist. Der Opener “Behind the wall” von Degiheugi featuring Kalyanka & Ghostown ist ein gediegener, gesungener Track auf langsamer soulig-warmer Beatbasis. Danach geht’s entspannt und athmosphärisch mit L’Oniraunote weiter. Crookram haut dann wieder eher auf die Drums und liefert mit “A man named Ivan” einen gezupften instrumental Kopfnicker ab während im darauf folgenden vierten Lied Berry Weight ein warmes, ruhiges Turntablism Lied mit schönem Gesang zum Besten gibt.

Und das waren erst die ersten vier Lieder. Nummer fünf und sechs stammen von Ceschi und DJ Scientist – zu denen ich wohl hier eher weniger sagen muss…

Bei gefühlten Millionen von Spam-Emails am Tag freut man sich dann doch mal über eine Nicht-Spam-Email. So auch über den Project Mooncircle Newsletter der gestern Nacht kam. Ganz besonders auch wenn der Betreff wie folgt lautet: “PMC Newsletter 30.04.2010 – FREE DOWNLOAD: SHAHMEN “ENTER THE CIRCLE” EP”

Ich kopiere ganz dreist den Inhalt des Newsetters.

SHAHMEN is what hip-hop is supposed to sound like in the year 2010. The SHAHMEN sound is a dance between moments of pure tonal bliss and dark, hard, banging beats .

Imagine, SENSE (of The Q4) as the mystical, more musically composed student of Muggs and RZA , who learned a secret his teachers did not. Building from their foundation, he reaches new plateaus in the dimensionality of sample composition. Finding his own, unique formula for interweaving haunting melodies between head banging drums, the music pulls you into a trance like state where the rock solid voice of B L S finds the perfect soundscape to sink in.

Straight up, B L S has the realest voice in rap in a very long time; ranging from a thundering bass which most rappers can only mimic with a pitch-shift, to a hazy drawl reminiscent of a cowboy in an old western. The unique vocal tone is matched in the lyrics, and B L S stands apart in the original narratives he weaves, leaving far behind the overused and tired archetypes of street stories, and pop-culture punch lines.

Simply put, SHAHMEN the illest seven letter word since OutKast or Nirvana.

Warum der Ordner nach dem entpacken 150MB groß ist, obwohl “nur” 7 Mp3s drin sind wundert nicht mehr,
wenn man die 111 MegaByte große PDF-Datei entdeckt.
Es handelt sich um das “Enter The Circle Digital Rhyme Book” mit Texten, Zeichnungen und der Entstehung des Covers. Gefällt mir sehr, sehr gut. Typographie sowie die Zeichnungen…
